This
session will be Chaired by Tony
Robinson OBE, Founder/Director of SFEDI, the UK government recognised body
which improves the quality of enterprise education, training and support,
will outline the workshop's objectives. The focus is on learning from best
practice to ensure that prospective enterprise owners have the very best
opportunity of gaining the skills, support and know how to survive and
thrive. All the speakers in the workshop will draw on many years of
practical experience and strong research evidence.

The World Bank Group’s Doing Business
report presents quantitative indicators on business start-up regulations in
183 countries as they apply to domestic small and medium enterprises. It
provides a benchmark for economies and reports on global best-practices with
the ultimate aim of providing an objective basis for understanding and
improving the regulatory environment for business.

2. Enterprise Manifesto
Tony Robinson will be joined by Terry
Owens, Entrepreneur, Holder of the Queens Award for Enterprise Promotion and
Founder of Inbiz - the most successful UK private company in helping the
long term unemployed into self employment. They will be interviewed by SFEDI
Brand Director and musician, Nat Hardwick on their Enterprise Manifesto.
Their manifesto, as leaders of the Enterprise Party, is what they believe
will provide the winning number of votes for any political party in a
national election. Following the interview a full debate involving all the
delegates with 'flash' inputs from leading enterprise support practitioners
and authorities will attempt to develop a consensus answer to the following
questions:

What should government do and not do in order to enable this culture?
What rights should individuals that wish to start their own enterprise
expect?
What are the essential skills and know how that everyone needs to
successfully start and run their own enterprise?
Who should provide the pre start and start up training and support and how
should this training and support be paid for?
4. Vote on Key Issue
The workshop will conclude with a vote on a
key issue emerging from the enterprise start up debate
